Spring has been super busy and summer is shaping up the same way. I just updated both the shows and classes pages to reflect all much of the action. Biggest news this month is the NEW Catherine Bede Gallery is opening in downtown Hillsboro and includes some of my art. Grand Opening is June 7 during the Downtown Hillsboro Art Walk. 230 E Main Suite W — look for the entryway between the Artful Garden and the Diversity Café. Details about current shows .
I will be hopping back and forth between that and the opening reception for the Green Cab artists group show, Motif: Patterns Made and Found June 7th at the Community Center on SE 8th Avenue. Sure wish I could figure out how to be in two places at the same time.
Also I have two great events SOON. A Paint and Sip evening (21+)on June 10th and a super fun afternoon workshop on mini-collagemaking open to teens and adults on June 14th. Details can be found on the Classes page. Either one (or both!) would be great with friends, and there is plenty of space. To register, call the Center at 503 615 1090 now and they will sign you right up.
Without my calendar book I would be totally lost in the blur of shows and sales and classes and events. Suddenly discovered the current book stops at the end of June. So I ordered a new one. Is that a sign? You tell me. 🙂
I have developed a new visionary painting and creativity workshop based on my recent black and white paintings on plywood, the “Super Ply” series. We will follow the steps of my usual process in creating these unique paintings. You will practice working from your own imagination and in your very own personal imagery and style.
Advanced to beginning painters welcome, you do not need much painting experience at all to learn the process because the technical aspect is pretty simple. The mental approach or thought process to it however is something every artist can learn and benefit from and I am delighted to share it with you.
I promise it will be fun and you will discover lots of useful information about your personal painting process.
Come prepared to loosen up, dive deep and paint freely! HINT: Wear painting clothes and bring hand protection if you are sensitive to art materials, it can does get messy.
The education department at Valley Art encouraged me to offer the official Right- Brain Business Plan workshop in January. The one day format is intense but it’s the perfect time of year to set out on the right foot if you are an artist or creative in business for yourself. (If you attended the RBBP introductory evening at Creative Hillsboro a while back then you already know how helpful this system can be.) Come and get your plan on with us! SORRY THIS Jan 12 class HAS NOW CLOSED. Complete RBBP workshop description and payment buttons here. It’s always more fun to sign up with a friend or two so please share with area artists and creatives who might be interested — thanks!
I am delighted to be teaching again this fall. There are just a few spots left in my mini-collage make and take class happening on Tuesday December 2 at Valley Art in Forest Grove, Oregon. These are so much fun to create and make delightful little gifts. As always, I encourage students to sign up with a friend by offering a special discount! You must preregister. Do this here or contact me to make other arrangements.
